Job description: Reporting to a postdoctoral fellow in the Silver lab, the Research Assistant will construct bacterial strains and perform experiments to study microbial interactions with mammals. This will include designing, executing and validating cloning strategies and testing strains. The successful candidate will conducts assays using microscopic, biochemical and fluorometric techniques. The Research Assistant will produce written documentation of this work and will analyze the data. The successful candidate will also participate in lab maintenance including ordering and preparing reagents, maintaining and establishing records for plasmid and strain databases and other responsibilities as needed. Two or more years of work experience in an academic or industrial setting. Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory techniques such as molecular cloning and microbiological culture. The position is grant-funded for one year with the possibility of renewal.
